New Album: [an imitation] Blood Orange
In case you haven’t heard. In the video Marshmallow Day sounds annoyingly upbeat but the rest of the tracks show promise of return to simpler song arrangements while still retaining the adult sounds of their later albums.

Mr.Children has announced that they will be releasing a new album (currently untitled) on November 28th (IA’s note: MY BIRTHDAY so happy birthday to me!) The band has also announced a new DVD/Blu-ray release as well as a nationwide tour starting in December.
To celebrate their 20th year anniversary, Mr.Children held a dome tour, released 2 best-of albums, and several singles under the theme ‘POPSAURUS 2012‘. They will be wrapping up their anniversary year with a new album and tour.
Mr.Children’s upcoming album will contain the band’s recent singles “Inori ~Namida no Kidou~“, “End of the day“, and “Pieces“, as well as “hypnosis“, which served as the theme song for NTV’s drama, ‘Tokkan: Tokubetsu Kokuzei Choushukan‘. The title, complete track list, and other details will be revealed later.
About 3 weeks after the album’s release, Mr.Children’s new DVD/Blu-ray, ‘MR.CHILDREN TOUR POPSAURUS 2012‘, will hit stores on December 19th. This will include footage from the Kyocera Dome performance of their nationwide spring tour which was held on their anniversary day, May 10th.
Finally, for their upcoming tour, Mr.Children will perform a total of 8 shows in 4 locations which include Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Saitama.

LOL, no no I don’t mean it like that at all. I download MP3s all the time and watch/strip videos off youtube; it gives me a chance to sample music before deciding to buy it. [(an imitation) blood orange] debuts at #1 on the Oricon Weekly Album Charts with 530k copies sold in its first week (that’s 28k more than Sense). This album is also their 12th consecutive studio album to sell more than 500k in its first week, breaking the previous record of 11, I believe.
Just to let you know – new Mr.Children song has been announced! It’s the theme to a movie coming out on June 1st in Japan and it’s … an aggressive rock song! It sounds like a combination of FAKE and I’ll Be, and that makes me excited, since I thought we’d never hear this side of Mr.Children again. Here’s the preview:

If you’re willing to give me access, I’d love to, since this is one of the only major Mr.Children sites I’ve seen around (that most fans that I know also visit). It’s also worth noting that Sakurai is doing another Soccer theme collab with Gaku-MC (like he did in 2006), so it looks like Mr.Children is being their usual active selves again. I do hope that Sakurai rests his voice a bit after the Tour ends, but I’m glad to see that they’re not backing into a slower release pattern just yet.
