Mr Children: Prism

August 5, 2008

Prism

04.07.20
Artist: Mr. Children
Title: Prism
Words: Sakurai Kazutoshi
Music: Sakurai Kazutoshi

Only when I fall do I notice the hardness of the concrete
I lose it, I get lonely,
sang that day’s love song
let me realize your grandeur

I gradually get good at lying to myself
Burst out laughing at me, who clings to the passing of time.

No matter how ugly society and the world may be,
it always makes me tell the truth to only you
come back to me, make that face concerned with nothing.

The form that wears a mask gradually gets to look good on me.
Decorated richly, spilling out words, laugh at yourself.

Why does it all end up in gloom ?
I laugh.

today I stand alone unable to move,
once more support me.
Try laughing by my side.

Translated by: Brian Stewart & Takako Sakuma

Translator’s Notes: I really like the image of the singer clinging tightly
to time which continues onward.
