Mr Children: Hokorobi

April 5, 2012

Hokorobi (Tear)

That torn-apart place is in my heart
Was I able to step over the sadness?
Before I know it, the loose thread is stretched
And it came undone

The tear grows wider still
Something’s shown its face
It was you who were there
Laughing

I remember that sunny day in the park well
Your polkadot skirt swaying
We found shade under the fragrant olive trees
And drank beer, holding hands

I lay down on the wide lawn
And looked at the blue sky
I felt good, and fell into a doze
I closed my eyes
I loved the way you smelled
You smelled sweet
When I wake from my dream, I’m alone
You’re gone
You’re not here, tossing and turning
